Hello!
My name is Tong, and I am a junior at Lawrence E. Elkins High School. I’ve been playing piano for 13 years and am currently playing it competitively. I‘ve participated in competitions where I have received 1+ ratings at Forum Auditions and made it to state in the annual TMTA Performance contest. In addition to that, I’ve also participated in the TMTA Music Theory testing for several years.
I am extremely interested in the arts. Other than music, I also enjoy fine arts and have been doing it for 9 years. I have participated in many art contests, such as a 2-year streak for gold medal in Scholastic Arts and Writing contest, 21st place in the annual Houston Rodeo School Art contest, and first place in Sister Cities International Annual Young Artist showcase. I also enjoy dancing and have been dancing for around 10 years. I am currently dancing at OAEC. In my free time, I love to volunteer and help out our community by taking care of the environment and teaching young children.
Music has always been part of my life. Although I know that everyone has different experiences in life, music always brings us together. I believe that music education should be accessible for everyone, regardless of the reason why you want to learn. And with the help of this organization, that vision can be achieved. Personally, I enjoy playing music because it helps me relieve my mind of any stress I have and would love to share that joy with everyone else!
